2010 Elimination Tournament Rules

1. All teams must be available to play by 6:00 pm on Friday.

2. Absolutely no one shall be permitted to consume any alcoholic beverages outside of the licensed area (i.e. parking lot). Any one drinking outside the Licensed Areas will have their team suspended from the tournament. All coaches should make sure you impress this upon your team and fans.

3. All players must register (sign-in) at the registration desk prior to their first game. Players arriving late are responsible to find the SPO registrar. Players are ineligible until they have registered.

4. I.D. must be presented at registration and may be checked at any time during the tournament. Players must have sufficient proof of identity (two pieces - one with a photograph) with them at every game.  NO I.D. - NO PLAY!

5. Coaches of the winning team are responsible for reporting the score to the headquarters within 15 minutes of completion of the game (unless playing back to back games). (Last names must be on score sheet). If there are any questions regarding results, no argument will be accepted if the score has not been reported via this procedure.

6. Teams must be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time. Teams not ready to play at the start of the pre-game meeting (no grace period) will lose home team advantage. A second occurrence during the tournament will result in the forfeiture of that game.

7. Home team will be decided by the flip of a coin.

8. No practice on the infield before the game. Between innings, one practice pitch and no infield ball.

9. Lineup cards will be used for all games. Only players listed (starting lineup and substitutes) will be eligible to participate in that game. The lineup card becomes official upon presentation to the umpire at the pre-game meeting.

10. A team must consist of ten (10) players in order to start and continue a game. Short-handed rule will not  be used.

11.  Proper softball apparel is expected. Minimum uniform requirements for all teams is matching uniform tops with unique numbers no less than 4 inches in size.

12. All bats must be presented at the equipment checking station for approval prior to their use. A player found using an altered or non-approved bat will be ejected from the game and suspended from the remainder of the tournament. SPO reserves the right to have bats withdrawn at any time for inspection and testing.

13. Masters division will use the commitment & safe lines.

14. Games suspended by weather or darkness will continue from where they are left off. If the game cannot be resumed within 2 hours of the stopping time, regular complete game rules may apply.

15. Any player or team representative ejected for unsportsmanlike behaviour from a game will be immediately suspended for a minimum of one additional game. If the behaviour is flagrant, the player will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament with further review by SPO.

16. All other rules will be governed by the Softball Canada Rule Book and the Amendments to that book by Slo-Pitch Ontario and the Slo-Pitch Ontario Tournament Operating Rules and Guidelines.

17. All team members and supporters shall follow and abide by the SPO Code of Conduct.

18. SPO reserve the right to make any decisions perceived to be in the best interest of the tournament.

19. Teams must retrieve any balls they hit out of play and replace it immediately with another legal ball.
